Configuring full-text search

If you want to use SharePoint Server search services for full-text searching of vault documents, then you need to crawl (index) the content of the documents. The BlueCielo Federated Connector can be used as a content source for such a crawl for Meridian Enterprise vaults only.

Warning    This kind of crawl is an optional feature of the BlueCielo Federated Connector that does not provide a security trimmer for this kind of a content source. This means that the search results will not be validated based on the identity of the user submitting the query.

Document content is only crawled if the relevant file extension is included in the file type list described in Specifying file types and an IFilter is installed on the index server that supports those file types. Several file types are included automatically during the initial installation of SharePoint Server. When you plan for content sources in your deployment, determine whether content you want to crawl uses file types that are not included. If file types are not included, you must add those file types to the Manage File Types page during deployment and ensure that an IFilter is installed and registered to support that file type.

Tip Meridian Enterprise includes the BlueCielo IFilter that supports the file formats that are viewable by AutoVue 2D Professional. For more information about the IFilter, see the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide .
